Troops from Operation Hadin Kai successfully eliminated three suicide bombers linked to the Ali Ngulde-led JAS faction of Boko Haram during an intelligence-driven operation along the Guduf-Pulka axis in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State on January 1, 2026.
The operation, based on credible intelligence and conducted in collaboration with local volunteer forces, intercepted the terrorists before they could reach civilian targets.
Troops recovered suicide vests and IED components from the bombers, which were safely secured.
Engaging the armed escorts, the soldiers inflicted heavy casualties, forcing survivors to flee into the Mandara Mountains.
During follow-up exploitation of the area, four AK-47 rifles were recovered, and two motorcycles used by the terrorists were destroyed.
Preliminary assessments indicate the bombers were dispatched from hideouts in the Mandara Mountains.
Operation Hadin Kai has ramped up efforts to track and neutralise such threats using enhanced intelligence gathering, while strengthening ties with security agencies and community groups in Borno and Yobe States.
Public awareness campaigns are also being intensified to encourage residents to report suspicious activities, as the military remains committed to degrading terrorist capabilities and protecting civilians in the region.
