Nigerian troops under Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have intensified offensive operations against Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists in Borno State, recording significant successes including the neutralisation of fighters, destruction of terrorist camps, and the surrender of insurgents.
According to the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force (North East), Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the troops have sustained intense clearance patrols, fighting engagements, and blocking operations under Operation DESERT SANITY V.
On January 10, 2026, sustained military pressure along the Azir–Wajiroko axis compelled 11 terrorist fighters to surrender, handing over their AK-47 rifles and assorted ammunition.
Earlier, on January 9, 2026, troops carried out extensive clearance operations in the Bulaagalda cluster, destroying several active terrorist enclaves and camps at Dagumba, Bonne, Yaganari, Gosuri, and Umchile.
The operations targeted notorious sites, including the Abu Nazir and Abu Ahmed camps, where troops dismantled life-support structures, disrupted logistics networks, and recovered terrorist flags, weapons, magazines, and other items.
Similar offensive actions in the Yale and Bula Gaida areas forced terrorists to flee, leading to the destruction of additional logistics facilities and the recovery of arms, ammunition, and a general-purpose machine gun.
In a separate intelligence-driven operation between Sojiri and Kayamla villages, troops engaged JAS/ISWAP elements, neutralising 8 terrorists and recovering AK-47 rifles.
Additionally, two suspected terrorist logistics collaborators were arrested in Gubio Local Government Area for allegedly supplying materials to the insurgents.
The military remains committed to maintaining offensive momentum, dismantling terrorist networks, and restoring lasting peace and security across the North East region.
These recent operations demonstrate continued progress in the fight against insurgency in Borno State.
