Nigerian troops neutralised 18 Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists in separate operations in Borno State, recovering weapons and destroying hideouts, while gallantly repelling a drone-supported assault that claimed lives among defenders.
In dawn raids along the Damboa-Biu road in the Bula Dalo-Sabon Gari axis, Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) Sector 1 troops eliminated 12 insurgents at Bula Dalo.
Survivors, many wounded, fled into Sambisa Forest, leaving behind four AK-47 rifles, a PKT anti-aircraft gun, an RPG launcher, and a multiple grenade launcher.
In a follow-up operation at Garno hideouts, six more terrorists were killed, their logistical structures destroyed, and a cache of PKT anti-aircraft ammunition recovered.
On January 29, Sector 2 troops at Sabon Gari faced an ISWAP attack backed by multiple armed drones.
The insurgents briefly breached defences, but reinforcements enabled the troops to repel the assault and restore full control.
Tragically, some soldiers and Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) members were killed, and an excavator and low-bed vehicle were damaged by drone strikes.
Operations remain active to deny terrorists freedom of movement in the area.In northwest Nigeria, Zamfara State Police rescued Abdullahi Isah Nagari, abducted by bandits on January 29 in Tsafe LGA.
The victim was found tied to a tree with a machete injury to his hand.A joint police-military team carried out the rescue after receiving a report.
Efforts continue to apprehend the kidnappers, with increased patrols in the area.
Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba reaffirmed the command’s commitment to protecting lives and urged residents to provide timely information to security agencies.
