Muhammadu Sanusi II, the Emir of Kano, has officially begun attending undergraduate lectures at Northwest University, Kano, as a 200-level student in the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) programme in Common Law and Sharia.
The emir joined his classmates for classes on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, dressed in his signature black flowing apparel and white turban. This marks the start of his formal academic journey in the Faculty of Law at the state-owned institution, following a special admission granted last week in recognition of his extensive background in governance, economics, public service, and his existing credentials including a PhD and his tenure as former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
