President Tinubu Arrives Abu Dhabi for 2026 Sustainability Week Summit

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has touched down in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, ahead of the highly anticipated 2026 edition of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW), a premier global forum on sustainable development.

The President's aircraft landed at the Presidential Wing of Zayed International Airport at precisely 11:30 pm local time on Sunday.

He was warmly welcomed by a high-level delegation, including Sheikh Shakhboot Nahyan Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs; UAE Ambassador to Nigeria, Salem Saeed Al-Shamsi; Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar; and members of the Nigerian diplomatic mission in Abu Dhabi.

Upon arrival at his hotel, President Tinubu was further received by key members of his delegation, including Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu; Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole; and Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Muhammed Muhammed.

This visit follows the President's end-of-year break in Europe, where he held productive discussions with Rwandan President Paul Kagame and French President Emmanuel Macron, focusing on advancing Africa's interests amid global changes.

The 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, running from January 11–15 under the theme "The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go", serves as a pivotal platform uniting world leaders, policymakers, investors, innovators, and experts.

The event emphasizes connecting bold climate ambitions with concrete actions across innovation, finance, and people driving progress in energy transition, climate action, water sustainability, green hydrogen, and inclusive economic growth.

Hosted by Masdar under the patronage of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, ADSW 2026 features major highlights such as the Zayed Sustainability Prize awards, high-level summits, the World Future Energy Summit, and specialized forums on oceans and utilities.
