The Lagos State Police Command has arrested four Liberian nationals in the Ikorodu area for their alleged involvement in a visa fraud operation that defrauded a compatriot of $2,790.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that officers responded to a distress call around 3:30 p.m. on January 20, 2026, reporting a serious dispute among Liberian nationals at their residence in the Mowonla area of Ikorodu.
A police team was quickly deployed to the scene, where four suspects were arrested and taken to the station for questioning.
The arrested individuals are Rebecca Mollie, 30; Joseph Brisbane, 45; Bility Famba, 35; and Reina Kartec, 24.
During interrogation, Rebecca Mollie told investigators that in August 2025, a 47-year-old Liberian national named Patrick Charman lured her from Liberia to Nigeria with promises of facilitating her travel to Australia, claiming he was based there.
Mollie alleged that Charman collected $1,500 from her as payment for visa arrangements.Upon arriving in Nigeria, she was met by another Liberian national, Naomi Koso, 36, who reportedly demanded and received an additional $1,290 for further processing of the visa.
Mollie stated that she later discovered the entire arrangement was fraudulent and demanded a refund so she could return to Liberia.
Police sources confirmed that the four suspects remain in custody while efforts continue to apprehend the two principal suspects, Patrick Charman and Naomi Koso, who are currently at large.
The investigation into the alleged visa scam is ongoing.
