Plateau State Inducts 1,450 Operation Rainbow Personnel to Strengthen Security

Governor Caleb Mutfwang has reaffirmed his administration's commitment to prioritizing security investments as a foundation for sustainable development, during the passing-out parade of 1,450 newly trained personnel for the community-based security outfit, Operation Rainbow, held in Jos.

The governor emphasized that enhancing the state's security architecture is essential to addressing lingering insecurity challenges in various parts of Plateau.

Operation Rainbow, a grassroots initiative, aims to bolster intelligence gathering, protect local communities, and enable rapid responses to emerging threats through community-level structures.

This latest batch of 1,450 recruits marks a significant expansion of the outfit, formally inducting them into service.

Governor Mutfwang urged the operatives to uphold the rule of law, respect human rights, and engage responsibly with civilians, stressing that Operation Rainbow is an inclusive force designed to safeguard all residents regardless of ethnic or religious affiliations.

Brigadier General Gakji Shipi (Retd.), Coordinator of Operation Rainbow and Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, highlighted that the recruits underwent rigorous training in tactical drills and community defense strategies.

He described them as the first line of protection for their respective communities, equipped to serve as vigilant responders in bolstering local safety.
