In a significant display of support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's re-election bid, the Northern Nigeria Youth Leaders Forum (NNYLF) has donated ₦200 million to cover the purchase of the All Progressives Congress (APC) expression of interest and nomination forms for the 2027 presidential election.
The announcement came during a high-profile youth engagement event held on Monday in Abuja, bringing together youth leaders, professionals, grassroots mobilisers, and political stakeholders from various parts of Northern Nigeria.
Malam Murtala Mohammed Garba, the leader of the NNYLF, described the contribution as a deliberate investment in ensuring policy continuity, consolidating ongoing reforms under the Tinubu administration, and promoting youth-inclusive governance.
“We believe that investing in the nomination process is a critical step to ensure stability, reform continuity, and youth-inclusive governance,” Garba stated.
In its communiqué, the forum highlighted the pivotal role of Nigerian youths as drivers of national stability, democratic consolidation, and sustainable development.
Beyond the financial gesture, the NNYLF committed to launching coordinated, peaceful, and issue-based mobilisation efforts across Northern Nigeria to boost democratic participation and civic engagement.
Additional resolutions from the forum include pushing for greater youth representation in policy discussions and governance structures, establishing institutionalised platforms for youth leadership development, and building strategic partnerships with government agencies, traditional institutions, and the private sector to advance leadership training, entrepreneurship, and civic education initiatives.
Accepting the donation on behalf of the Tinubu Support Group (TSG), Tanko Yakassi expressed profound appreciation, describing it as a “generous and impactful contribution” that reflects the deep confidence Northern youths have in President Tinubu’s visionary leadership.
He noted that the funds would directly facilitate the procedural requirements for Tinubu’s nomination, paving the way for a smooth and credible process leading into the 2027 elections.
This youth-led financial endorsement stands out as one of the most substantial in recent Nigerian political history, highlighting the rising influence of organised youth groups in national politics.
The NNYLF urged young Nigerians nationwide to engage responsibly in politics and partner with credible youth platforms to achieve tangible development results across the country.
