The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially begun the sale of registration forms for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), marking the start of preparations for admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions for the 2026/2027 academic session.
Announced by JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, during a stakeholders' meeting, the registration process is designed to be seamless and secure.
Prospective candidates are strongly advised to register exclusively at approved Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres, professional registration centres, or JAMB offices nationwide to avoid fraud.
Prof. Oloyede emphasized that candidates facing biodata discrepancies, such as mismatches in names or dates of birth must resolve these issues directly with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) prior to registration.
The Board will accept only NIMC-generated data for verification and will not consider corrections from alternative sources.Key registration timelines include:
UTME registration (including for foreign candidates): Monday, January 26, 2026, to Saturday, February 28, 2026.
e-PIN vending for UTME: Already underway since Monday, January 19, 2026, and closing on Thursday, February 26, 2026.
For Direct Entry (DE) candidates, the sale of application documents and e-PINs will start on Monday, March 2, 2026, and end on Saturday, April 25, 2026, with registrations limited to JAMB zonal and state offices.
Three e-PIN categories are available for 2026:Direct Entry: ₦5,700
UTME only (without Mock): ₦7,200
UTME with Mock: ₦8,700
These fees break down as follows: JAMB application fee (₦3,500), compulsory reading text (₦1,000), CBT centre registration service charge (₦700), CBT UTME service charge (₦1,500), bank charges (₦500), plus an optional ₦1,500 for the Mock-UTME CBT centre charge.
The 2026 UTME is scheduled to take place from Thursday, April 16, to Saturday, April 25, 2026, while the optional Mock-UTME will hold on Saturday, March 28, 2026.
In a firm warning to CBT centre operators, Prof. Oloyede cautioned against extortion, overcharging, or employing staff of questionable integrity.
Centres found guilty of malpractices face licence revocation and prosecution, with owners held fully accountable for their ad-hoc staff's actions.
Ignorance will not be accepted as a defence.The announcement aligns with JAMB's ongoing efforts to enhance transparency, curb irregularities, and ensure a fair process for all candidates.
