During President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's official state visit to Türkiye, Nigeria's Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, and Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, visited ASELSAN, the country's premier defence electronics firm.
The high-level delegation was welcomed by Haluk Görgün, President of Türkiye's Defence Industries.ASELSAN is renowned for its expertise in developing advanced military technologies, including communications systems, radars, surveillance equipment, and electronic warfare solutions tailored for land, air, and naval platforms.
In a statement released on Thursday, General Musa described the visit as an opportunity to conduct hands-on inspections of cutting-edge defence equipment.
The discussions centered on existing collaborative efforts and opportunities to expand defence partnerships between Nigeria and Türkiye.The CDS emphasized that the engagement aligns with Nigeria's strategic push to bolster its military capabilities through international alliances, technology transfers, and joint development initiatives.
General Musa highlighted the valuable perspectives gained on state-of-the-art defence electronics and locally developed solutions that could enhance Nigeria's national security framework.
He reiterated Nigeria's dedication to strengthening bilateral defence relations with Türkiye, particularly in training programs, joint research, local production, and systems integration to support mutual security objectives.
