Nigeria not as dangerous as the US, rapper DDG argues

Darryl Dwayne Granberry, the American rapper better known as DDG, has pushed back against perceptions of Nigeria as an exceptionally dangerous country, arguing instead that the United States holds that title.

During a recent livestream from Nigeria, the rapper said while the African most populous country faces security issues, they are not on the same scale as the violence prevalent in America.

He claimed the level of violence in the US is “far larger” and that Nigeria is “nowhere near” as dangerous.

“I think America is the most dangerous country that it is. To be honest. I do not think Nigeria is as dangerous as America. Nowhere near. You get robbed here for sure. But ni**as do not split weed like that here like they do in America,” he said.

“So if anybody is thinking about coming down here should pull up.”

DDG, who has expressed a strong connection to the country, previously noted on Instagram that visiting Nigeria felt like “coming home.”

He also revealed that genetic testing shows he is 22 percent Nigerian and that he loves African music. His current trip includes a scheduled feature on a livestream with Nigerian content creator Carter Efe.

DDG began his career on YouTube in 2014 and has since expanded into a successful music and streaming career.
