The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), as part of Operation Hadin Kai, conducted successful night precision strikes in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State, destroying terrorist watercraft and neutralising several fighters.
The operations targeted Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS) elements along the Malimbe–Masaram Island axis and Northern Tumbuns, based on weeks of intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance confirming increased terrorist logistics and movements.
On January 18, strikes under cover of darkness hit key hideouts and vessels used for mobility across Lake Chad waterways.
Multiple JAS fighters were neutralised, boats destroyed, and survivors fled in disarray toward the Abadam axis, paranoid about informants.
Post-strike assessments confirmed the missions' high success, with ongoing monitoring to prevent reprisals against civilians suspected of cooperating with security forces.Separately, on January 20, NAF interdicted a newly identified ISWAP enclave codenamed “Rackstar” in the Northern Tumbuns around 1:00 p.m. ISR confirmed the site as a safe haven, IED assembly point, and weapons workshop, with solar panels and black flags indicating active use.
Precision munitions degraded the terrorists' infrastructure, disrupting command and logistics. These sustained efforts aim to deny terrorists sanctuary, mobility, and resources in the Lake Chad basin.
