Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State has signed the ₦820.49 billion 2026 Appropriation Bill into law, following its swift passage by the State House of Assembly.
The budget, themed "Budget of Shared Prosperity: Driving Sustainable Growth for All," was assented to on December 31, 2025, marking a key milestone for the state's development agenda.
During the signing ceremony, Governor Ododo commended members of the Kogi State House of Assembly for their diligence and prompt passage of the bill, describing their efforts as a demonstration of commitment to the growth and development of the state.
He reaffirmed his administration's dedication to fiscal discipline, transparency, and prudent management of resources, assuring that the budget will be implemented strictly in accordance with the law, with every naira directed toward advancing the welfare and progress of citizens.
The governor highlighted modest but significant achievements in sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture, road infrastructure, human capital development, and youth empowerment.
Looking ahead, Ododo unveiled plans for major infrastructural projects, including the development of an airport, alongside other initiatives to boost economic growth.On security, he emphasized that maintaining peace is a shared responsibility and urged citizens to adhere to established security protocols to keep the state safe.
The 2026 budget, a 35.7% increase over the revised 2025 figure, allocates approximately ₦367.4 billion to recurrent expenditure and ₦453 billion to capital projects, prioritizing infrastructure, human capital, and sustainable development.
