Hon. Tijjani Abdulkadir Jobe, the member representing Tofa/Dawakin Tofa/Rimin Gado Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has officially resigned from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
In a resignation letter dated January 23, 2026, addressed to the NNPP Chairman of Mobe Ward in Tofa Local Government Area, the lawmaker announced his exit from the party.
The move marks the latest in a series of high-profile departures from the NNPP in Kano State amid ongoing internal leadership tensions and political realignments.
Hon. Jobe, a fourth-term federal lawmaker who previously represented the constituency under different platforms, won his seat in the 2023 general elections on the NNPP ticket aligned with the Kwankwasiyya movement.
His resignation follows recent exits by other prominent Kano figures from the party, including Hon. Abdulmumini Jibrin Kofa, Senator Kawu Sumaila, and others, highlighting deepening fractures within the NNPP's Kano chapter.
The lawmaker did not immediately disclose his next political step or whether he intends to join another party.
Sources close to him suggest the decision stems from dissatisfaction with the party's direction and leadership approach in the state.
This development comes at a time of heightened speculation about defections in Kano politics, including rumors surrounding Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and the NNPP's hold on power in the state.
Hon. Jobe's constituency, covering parts of Kano's rural and semi-urban areas, has long been a key battleground, and his departure could influence upcoming political dynamics ahead of future elections.
No official response has been issued yet from the NNPP national or state leadership regarding the resignation.
