‘It won’t be business as usual’ — Mercy Johnson warns after dropping defamation suit against TikToker

Mercy Johnson, the Nollywood actress, has dropped the defamation charge she filed against TikToker Eedie Bliss.

Bliss was arrested last week for allegedly making defamatory statements about the actress and her husband Odianosen Okojie.

The TikToker had released a video last month claiming Okojie recently bought a house for his pregnant mistress.

Bliss alleged that the actress connived with the mistress’ house help to cause her miscarriage.

Following public outcry over the arrest, Eedie was released from detention on Saturday.

In a video addressing the situation, Johnson explained her decision to withdraw the case was made “out of respect for the people my husband and I respect and love”.

The film star issued a firm warning to online trolls and critics, declaring that, from now on, “It would no longer be business as usual”.

“I have plans laid out for this year for stuff and making trouble, or cases are going to be part of them because some people would not just leave me alone. There is no reason why you wake up every morning to look at me and say, ‘I am going to try and break this up,’” she said.

The actress also revealed the painful impact of constant online falsehoods, stating that her children have faced bullying at school as a result of malicious rumours spread online.

“I have kids, and you write these lies and say these things. I have teenagers who are being bullied in school because of the things you guys write. I have parents telling their kids not to allow my kids to touch their school bags because you guys say I am a witch,” she said.

“I need my name out of your mouth. This is off, but every other person who alleges must prove. I am not going to allow my kids to get bullied because of your lies.

“My priorities are my husband and my kids. I don’t care who is doing better. I am just in my lane. Please leave me alone.”
