Actress Doris Ogala has clashed with comedian Akpororo over his advice regarding her ongoing controversy with Chris Okafor, founder of Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministries.
The conflict began when comedian Akpororo took to Instagram
to advise Ogala to take her dispute with Okafor off social media and resolve it
privately.
He argued that the criticisms Okafor has faced are largely
because he is a pastor, not because the incident itself is unusually serious.
He also implied that if Okafor were not a cleric, the actress would likely have
been the one criticised instead.
The comedian further warned that overexposing the issue
online also makes her appear to be overreacting.
“I have been following the incident since last year, but I
want to tell you something that people around you won’t. The main reason
Nigerians are criticising Okafor is because he is a pastor,” he said.
“Things worse than this have happened in the country, and if
it were an ordinary man, it would have been you who faced the criticism.
“I would advise you to take the matter off social media, and
then both of you can have a discussion to settle it. You don’t need to do all
these things—you are making it seem like this has never happened before.
“People are already saying you are acting because you are
overdoing it. Taking it off social media would favour you.”
Reacting via Instagram, Ogala said Akpororo does not
understand the gravity of what she is dealing with and therefore has no right
to tell her how to handle the situation.
She argued that speaking out publicly was necessary for her
safety and accused the comedian of hypocrisy. She alleged that his stance was
influenced by financial benefits he had received from Okafor.
Ogala also warned him to stop interfering, threatening to expose alleged past misconduct involving women if he continued.
“I know you are Chris Okafor’s customer and that you perform
at his church. I respect you, and you should respect me too. There are
boundaries. Do not tell me to take this off social media again because you are
not in my position,” she said.
“If I stop speaking out online, I would be k!lled. You do
not know these people, but I do.
“…Do not try it with me. Okafor is your associate, and you
have performed at his church several times, but do not do this again. What I am
dealing with is bigger than you, so do not advise me. I expected you to reach
out to me privately, not on social media.
“Your problem is illiteracy. Do not let me come for you. The
day you performed at that church, you took two women and failed to pay them.
You ran off in your underwear. I will bring out your video where you told one
of the women that your wife is more attractive. I will also post videos where
the women you slept with were confronting you over unpaid money.”
However, Akpororo dared Ogala to go ahead with her threat,
giving her until the end of the day to release the alleged video.
“I saw your video. I’m giving you from now till end of today to post the video you threatened to post. If you don’t post it, you’re a goat. I’m waiting for it,” he said.
The conflict between Ogala and Okafor erupted weeks ago
after a video of the pastor’s engagement to Pearl Okafor surfaced online.
Ogala alleged she had been in a romantic relationship with
Okafor since 2017. She claimed she ended her previous marriage at his urging
and accused him of betraying her after years of intimacy and repeated promises
of marriage.
The actress later issued an ultimatum, demanding that Okafor
either marry her or compensate her financially, escalating to a demand of N1
billion in damages over breach of promise.
Despite the threat and outburst, Okafor got married to Pearl
in a white and traditional wedding ceremony.
Okafor initially described Ogala’s backlash as “the devil’s
anger” over his public marital happiness.
However, days later, he publicly knelt and apologised to
Ogala, acknowledging the truth of her claims regarding their past relationship.
