Armed bandits launched a brazen attack on two churches in Kurmin Wali community, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, abducting an unspecified number of worshippers on Sunday, January 18.
According to a reliable security source who spoke to Zagazola Makama, the assailants, heavily armed with sophisticated weapons, stormed the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) and Cherubim and Seraphim Church II at approximately 11:25 a.m.
The attackers forcibly took several worshippers to an unknown destination. As of the latest update, the exact number of abducted persons remains unconfirmed, as community leaders and security operatives continue to gather accurate details from affected families and eyewitnesses.
Kurmin Wali is a remote, forested area with challenging terrain, which has made immediate access to the scene difficult for security forces and complicated rapid response efforts.
In the aftermath of the attack, troops from the 1 Division Nigerian Army, alongside other security agencies, were swiftly mobilized to the area.
They are working in close collaboration with local stakeholders to track the kidnappers, rescue the abducted worshippers, and bring the perpetrators to justice.
The incident has heightened concerns over the persistent threat of banditry and kidnapping in parts of Kaduna State, particularly in rural and hard-to-reach communities.
Security operations remain ongoing, with authorities urging residents to provide any useful information that could aid the rescue mission.
Further details on the number of victims and the progress of the rescue operation are expected as investigations continue.
