Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has distributed more than 500 wheelchairs and various mobility aids to individuals living with physical disabilities across the state.
The presentation took place at a ceremony held at Muhammadu Buhari Square in Lokoja, where the governor also handed over a vehicle to the Secretary of Persons with Physical Challenges in Kogi State to support their advocacy and coordination efforts.
The initiative was spearheaded by the Ohunene Foundation, a pet project of the governor's wife, Hajia Sefinat Ododo.
The foundation focuses on empowering vulnerable groups, including women and persons with disabilities (PWDs), through targeted interventions.
During the event, beneficiaries received wheelchairs, crutches, walking sticks, guide canes, elbow crutches, and other essential aids designed to improve mobility and enhance quality of life.
The distribution forms part of broader efforts to promote inclusion, dignity, and self-reliance among PWDs in Kogi State.
Governor Ododo reiterated his administration's commitment to supporting the physically challenged and ensuring equitable access to opportunities.
The gesture aligns with ongoing empowerment programs under the Ohunene Foundation, which has previously provided cash grants and other assistance to hundreds of women and PWDs.
