Real Madrid will face Benfica in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) second round playoffs.
Benfica stunned the Spanish giants with a dramatic 4-2
victory in their final match of the UCL league stage on Wednesday.
Madrid needed a point to ensure they finish among the top
eight and secure automatic qualification to the knockout phase. Benfica had a
lofty ambition of theirs, and with the guiding hands of Jose Mourinho, they
upstaged the Galacticos in front of Estádio da Luz.
Anatoliy Trubin, Benfica goalkeeper, scored a stoppage-time
header that sent the Portuguese side into the playoffs and crushed Madrid’s
aspirations.
