Security operatives have arrested four men suspected of belonging to a kidnapping syndicate in Dukku Village, Rijau Local Government Area of Niger State.
The arrests occurred around 1:45 p.m. on Thursday following credible intelligence reports about the presence of armed individuals in the community.
The suspects, all identified as males originating from Dabai Sime in Zuru Local Government Area of Kebbi State, are:
Daniel Kudu, 31
Mohammadu Wasse, 25
Emmanuel Iko, 28
Sofada John, 27
Among the items recovered from the group was one locally fabricated AK-47 rifle loaded with 10 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, along with a jackknife, which authorities said was in the possession of suspect Sofada John.
Local residents in Dukku Village expressed significant relief following the operation, noting that the community has experienced multiple security threats and scares in recent weeks due to suspected criminal activities in the region.
Security sources confirmed that investigations are actively underway to uncover the full scope of the suspects' operations, any potential connections to other criminal incidents in the area, and to identify and apprehend additional members or collaborators involved in the gang.
