Abuja Federal High Court has approved the interim forfeiture of N30.7 million suspected to be proceeds of unlawful activities connected to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited.
Justice Emeka Nwite granted the ex parte application filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday, declaring the motion meritorious and ordering the temporary seizure of the funds in favor of the federal government.
The judge further directed the EFCC to publish the forfeiture order in a national newspaper, giving any interested parties 14 days to appear before the court and show cause why the money should not be permanently forfeited to the federal government.
The case was adjourned to January 22, 2026, for a report on compliance with the publication directive.
The development is part of ongoing investigations into alleged financial misconduct involving the state-owned oil corporation.
