Diego Costa has described Antonio Conte, his former boss at Chelsea, as a “very bitter guy”.
Costa was recounting the circumstances surrounding his exit
from Chelsea in a recent episode of the Obi One Podcast, in a chat with Mikel
Obi.
Costa spent three seasons at Chelsea, scoring 59 goals in
120 games and winning two English Premier League (EPL) titles.
The Spaniard played under Conte for one season and was the
team’s highest goalscorer as the Blues cruised to the league title.
Costa was frozen out of the team after the title-winning
season and did not play professional football for 6 months before eventually
leaving Chelsea for Atletico Madrid.
Speaking on the exit, Costa said he was on holiday at the
end of the season when Conte texted him to say he was out of the coach’s plan
for the next campaign.
The former Chelsea striker said nobody at Chelsea liked
Conte or enjoyed training with the manager.
Costa added that Conte was always “angry” and “with a long
face”, probably because he “doesn’t have s*x at home”.
“He had something inside because it is not normal for a
coach not count on a player who was his team’s top scorer,” the 37-year-old
said.
“I sent the message to Marina [Granovskaia, former Chelsea
director] and she immediately told me what he did could not be done, that he
was not the owner of the team.
“In the end, I was in Brazil, I was with my family, and I
told Marina that for everything I’ve done for the club, I don’t deserve to be
treated like this. He’s a person who doesn’t trust others, he thinks he knows
everything. You don’t enjoy training with him. He’s always angry, always with a
long face. He probably doesn’t have s*x at home because he is a very bitter
guy.
“It is a shame because I was very happy in Chelsea, but I
did not want to cause a problem to the club. The players want me to come back,
but nobody liked him; that’s why he didn’t last long. The past is the past, it
is a shame. The titles he won at Chelsea, he won it with me for his bad luck. I
wish him all the best with his life.”
