Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has lauded the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) for its indispensable contributions to ongoing counter-insurgency and anti-banditry efforts under Operation Fansan Yamma in the state.
The governor, represented by the Commissioner for Homeland Security, Barrister Maurice Bello Magaji, delivered the commendation as Special Guest of Honour during the 2025 Base Socio-Cultural Activities (BASA) ceremony held at the Nigerian Air Force Base in Minna on January 24, 2026.
Governor Bago praised NAF personnel for their unwavering dedication, high level of professionalism, and immense sacrifices in the fight against insecurity.
He highlighted their critical role in protecting lives, property, and Nigeria’s territorial integrity, with particular impact felt across Niger State.
The governor extended special appreciation to the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal S.K. Aneke, for his exemplary leadership and for thoughtfully combining the BASA event with a parley dedicated to NAF veterans.
He described the initiative as a meaningful way to recognize and honour the contributions and sacrifices of retired Air Force personnel who helped lay the foundation for today’s successes.
Assuring continued partnership, Governor Bago pledged the Niger State Government’s full support to the NAF through sustained collaboration, provision of necessary resources, and infrastructure improvements to bolster security operations in the state.
He also congratulated the Commander of the 013 Quick Response Force, Nigerian Air Force Base Minna, Group Captain Kehinde Orobola Akinyosade, and the entire base community for successfully organizing the 2025 BASA, wishing them continued peace, progress, and operational excellence.
In his keynote address, Group Captain Akinyosade described the 2025 BASA as a fitting culmination of the operational year, providing a platform to reinforce unity, cultural pride, and esprit de corps among NAF personnel and their families.
He expressed deep gratitude to Air Marshal Aneke for his visionary leadership and unwavering support, particularly noting the significance of the veterans’ parley as a demonstration of the Air Force’s commitment to the welfare of its retired members.
The commander highlighted the 013 Quick Response Force’s remarkable operational achievements throughout 2025, crediting these successes to the professionalism of NAF personnel and strong collaboration with sister security agencies.
He further acknowledged the robust synergy among security stakeholders in Niger State and commended the state government for its consistent backing in creating a safer operating environment.
