Troops from Sector 1 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA successfully rescued six kidnapped victims during a coordinated security operation in the Kajuru/Kujama general area of Kaduna State on January 5, 2026.
The rescue took place in the Kujeni area and surrounding Kasso hills, as part of ongoing efforts to curb the activities of violent extremists and criminals in Chikun, Kajuru, Kachia, Kagarko, and bordering Kauru communities.
Acting on a distress alert, the troops engaged armed criminals, forcing them to abandon their captives and flee into the surrounding forest. No casualties were reported among the victims or the soldiers involved.
The rescued individuals were subsequently handed over to representatives of the Kajuru Local Government Area and the Kajuru Emirate Council for reunification with their families.
Lieutenant Colonel Shuaib Umar, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for 1 Division Nigerian Army/Sector 1 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, confirmed the operation.
Major General Abubakar Sadiq Wase, the General Officer Commanding and Sector Commander, praised the troops for their professionalism and bravery, urging them to maintain high alertness and continue aggressive operations against criminal elements.
