Presidential aide Bayo Onanuga has fiercely criticized Peter Obi's move to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), calling the former Labour Party candidate a "wandering politician" still bitter over his third-place finish in the 2023 presidential election.
In a pointed X post, Onanuga quoted directly:"About three years after the 2023 election, Obi, the wandering politician who moved from APGA to PDP to Labour and now ADC still sounded bitter about coming third."
Onanuga rejected Obi's claims of being "robbed," citing "empirical analyses" that showed Obi could not have won and benefited from irregular South-East votes. He also dismissed Obi's citations of foreign development models as ineffective "copy-paste" ideas, emphasizing the need for original, homegrown solutions.
Praising President Bola Tinubu's reforms, including subsidy removal, economic restructuring, infrastructure projects, and tax harmonization, Onanuga contrasted them with what he called Obi's "abysmal failure" as Anambra governor.
He further stated:"Because Obi sorely lacks the leadership pedigree, beyond being a successful importer, only the madman he consults in Onitsha would be comfortable handing over Nigeria to him."
Onanuga predicted Obi would end up as a secondary figure in the ADC, possibly Atiku Abubakar's running mate in 2027.
