Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Asake paid a courtesy visit to Ghana's President John Dramani Mahama following his electrifying performance at the 2025 AfroFuture Festival in Accra, where the two shared a light-hearted yet notable exchange over a recent controversy.
The meeting, which took place on December 30 at the Supercar Spectacle Sponsors Appreciation event, was captured on video and has since gone viral on social media.
Asake, whose real name is Ahmed Ololade, arrived with his entourage and warmly greeted President Mahama, who was accompanied by his brother Ibrahim Mahama, businessman Richard Nii Armah Quaye, actor and politician John Dumelo, and other prominent figures.
During the interaction, President Mahama jokingly referenced an incident where a fan, known as Cyborg, allegedly discharged a firearm into the air in celebration during Asake's visit to a neighbourhood in Accra on December 28.
Mahama asked: “So he is the one the guy fired the gun for?”After confirmation from those present, he added, “And he ended up in trouble,” prompting laughter in the room.
Asake then expressed regret over the incident, describing it as a moment of over-excitement, and appealed for leniency for the arrested fan.
President Mahama responded firmly but calmly: “Don’t worry about it. The law is the law.”
The President emphasized that due process would be followed, underscoring the importance of upholding public safety laws despite the celebratory context.
Asake had headlined the opening day of the AfroFuture Festival at El-Wak Stadium as part of Ghana's popular "December in GH" festivities, drawing massive crowds and further cementing his popularity across Africa.
