Turaki Leads Delegation to Meet Former President Obasanjo in Abeokuta

Kabiru Tanimu Turaki (SAN), the recently elected National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Saturday visited former President Olusegun Obasanjo at his residence in the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital.

Turaki was accompanied by several PDP elder statesmen and leaders, including former Niger State Governor Babangida Aliyu and other prominent party figures.

The delegation arrived for what sources describe as a courtesy call and consultation with the elder statesman.

Although details of the closed-door discussions have not been publicly disclosed, observers suggest the meeting may be linked to ongoing developments within the PDP, including efforts to strengthen party unity and strategize ahead of future political engagements.

Former President Obasanjo, a founding figure of the modern PDP who served as Nigeria's civilian leader from 1999 to 2007, remains an influential voice in national politics despite his occasional criticisms of the party.

No official statements were issued by either side following the visit, but such consultations are common as the opposition party navigates internal reforms under Turaki's leadership.
