Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have successfully repelled a fierce attack by ISWAP terrorists targeting forces engaged in stabilisation operations in Mairari village, dealing a major setback to the group's activities in the region.
The assault spanned from the late hours of 12 December 2025 into the early morning of 13 December 2025.The terrorists launched a coordinated bid to overrun the military base using two Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Devices (VBIEDs).
However, vigilant troops detected and neutralised both VBIEDs in time, preventing any breach of the forward operating base (FOB).
CCTV footage captured the aftermath, showing several terrorists killed, others gravely injured, and surviving fighters hastily evacuating their casualties.
In the early hours of 13 December 2025, troops from Sector 3 OPHK/MNJTF, reinforced by the Theatre Command Quick Reaction Group, Nigeria Police Crack Team, and Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), carried out a comprehensive exploitation of the area.
The operation uncovered multiple terrorist bodies along with a significant cache of abandoned weapons, ammunition, and logistics.
Recovered items included AK-47 rifles with magazines and ammunition, belts of PKT rounds, hand grenades, motorcycles, communication equipment, combat gear, medical supplies, sustainment materials, and other items supporting prolonged terrorist operations.
These seizures have further diminished the group's capabilities and restricted their movement in the area.
The two neutralised VBIEDs were destroyed by OPHK's defensive fire systems, causing damage to the road at two points.
Despite the intensity of the attack, no breach of the FOB occurred, highlighting the troops' high state of readiness and resilience.
Troops are now intensifying dominance in the general area through aggressive fighting patrols to prevent further terrorist incursions and reassure local communities of sustained security.
Operation Hadin Kai forces remain steadfast in their mission to decisively eliminate all terrorist threats and restore enduring peace and stability in the North East region.
