Nigerian Army troops from Sector 1 of Operation Lafiyan Jama’a, under 3 Division, have successfully rescued four abducted persons and neutralised one kidnapper during a well-coordinated ambush in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The operation was triggered by credible intelligence regarding the abduction of four individuals from Rimi village in Jere District.
Acting swiftly, troops deployed from Jingre set up an ambush along the suspected escape route of the kidnappers.
At approximately 3:28 a.m. on Friday, December 12, 2025, the troops engaged the criminals in a fierce exchange of gunfire, compelling the kidnappers to abandon their victims and flee into the surrounding area.
During subsequent exploitation of the scene, soldiers discovered the body of one neutralised kidnapper.
Recovered items included one AK-47 rifle, one magazine, and 13 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
The rescued victims were debriefed by the troops before being safely reunited with their families.
No casualties were recorded among the military personnel, whose morale and operational efficiency remain high.
Efforts are ongoing to track and apprehend the fleeing members of the kidnap gang.Adapted from report by Zagazola Makama, December 13, 2025.
