In a series of coordinated land and air operations over the past 72 hours, Nigerian Army troops have killed 47 terrorists, rescued more than 30 kidnapped victims, and arrested 19 criminal suspects across multiple theatres, the military announced on Wednesday.
The operations also led to the recovery of a significant cache of arms, ammunition, motorcycles, communication equipment, and other logistics used by criminal elements.
According to a statement from the Nigerian Army, the successes highlight the military's ongoing aggressive campaign against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, oil theft, and other threats to national security.
In the North West and North Central regions:In Sokoto State, troops ambushed Lakurawa terrorists in Binji and Tangaza LGAs, neutralizing three and recovering an AK-47 rifle, a motorcycle, radios, and mobile phones.
In Niger State, an engagement in Munya LGA resulted in one terrorist killed and the seizure of weapons and equipment.
In Zamfara State, patrols in Anka and Maru LGAs neutralized two terrorists, destroyed hideouts, and rescued injured civilians.
In Kaduna State, interventions in Sanga and Zango Kataf LGAs foiled robberies and kidnappings, leading to arrests of cattle rustlers and recovery of a fabricated rifle, ammunition, and livestock.
In Plateau State, three cattle rustling suspects were arrested in Barkin Ladi and Wase LGAs, with motorcycles, knives, phones, and cash recovered.
Operations in the South-South and South-East yielded further gains:In Rivers State, troops disrupted planned sabotage along Cawthorne Channel in Degema LGA, arresting two suspects and seizing related tools.
In Delta State, two wooden boats carrying approximately 1,700 litres of stolen crude oil were intercepted.
In Imo State, a suspect involved in the shooting of a civilian was arrested and handed over to police.
In the Federal Capital Territory (Abuja), an anti-illegal mining raid in Gwagwalada resulted in 11 arrests and the recovery of a motorcycle and petroleum products.
Meanwhile, the air component conducted precision strikes on ISWAP/JAS logistics bases in Borno State, North East, neutralizing at least 42 terrorists.
Secondary explosions indicated the destruction of weapons and explosives stockpiles, with follow-up strikes targeting fleeing fighters.
Across all operations, over 30 kidnapped victims, including women and children were rescued, given medical care where needed, and reunited with their families.
Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, commended the troops for their intelligence-driven and joint operations focused on protecting lives, property, and critical infrastructure.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining offensive pressure in collaboration with other security agencies until lasting peace is restored nationwide, while calling for continued public support and cooperation.
