Nigerian troops under Operation Hadin Kai, bolstered by air support from the Nigerian Air Force, have successfully eliminated several high-ranking Boko Haram commanders in targeted airstrikes in Bama Local Government Area, Borno State.
The operation, conducted on December 25, 2025, was based on reliable intelligence regarding terrorist gatherings and movements in the region, according to security sources cited by counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama.
The initial airstrike neutralized at least 10 terrorists, including key figures identified as Abul Kaka, Ibn Mu’azu, Abu Muhammad, Ba Alhaji, Bakura, Modu, Abu Hassan, Kaka Alai, Abba Yakariye, and Bamusa.
Another fighter, known as Ubaida, was severely injured in the attack.A follow-up strike by Nigerian Air Force jets killed three more insurgents shortly afterward.Sources indicate that most of those eliminated were loyalists of Bafu, a prominent Boko Haram leader active in the Bama sector.
Military assessments describe the strikes as a major blow to the group's operational strength in the area, significantly weakening Bafu's faction amid ongoing air campaigns against remnants of the insurgency.
While the local security situation remains relatively stable, authorities caution that it could shift rapidly due to the unpredictable nature of terrorist activities in the region.
