The All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged eligible
voters in Rivers state to cast their ballots for all candidates on its platform
in the 2027 general election.
Ajibola Basiru, national secretary of the APC, made the call
while addressing party supporters in the state.
Basiru spoke at the official commissioning of a newly built permanent secretaries’ quarters in Rivers state.
“We bring the goodwill of the national working committee of
the All Progressives Congress to the good people of Rivers state, particularly
one of the latest signings into the pan-African, pan-Nigerian political party,
the APC,” Basiru said.
“As long as Governor Fubara is in the APC, he already has a
junior from the north-central. I congratulate the people of Rivers state for
being part of this pan-Nigerian political party.
“By the entrance of Governor Fubara into the APC, the
south-south geopolitical zone has become the first zone to have all APC
governors.
“I congratulate our governor, I congratulate our party
because when the governor is doing well, it simply means that our party is
doing well.
“But the only way you can compensate the governor,
compensate our party people of Rivers state, is to continue to vote for our
party, the APC, in all elections.”
Basiru said the APC is confident that Rivers would deliver
substantial votes for the party in future elections, including the presidential
poll.
“And I know that in the fullness of time, in the general
election coming, the votes for our party, the vote for our governor, the vote
for our president, will be very massive in Rivers state,” he added.
Fubara defected to the APC days after visiting Tinubu,
following months of political crisis in Rivers that pitted him against his
predecessor, Nyesom Wike, minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The crisis resulted in a divided house of assembly,
impeachment threats, and a six-month state of emergency
