President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is scheduled to lay the 2026 Appropriation Bill before a joint session of the National Assembly on Friday, December 19, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.

The presentation, a key constitutional step in transmitting the federal government's fiscal plans for the upcoming year, follows the recent approval of the 2026–2028 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP) by the Senate.

Reports indicate the proposed budget could total around ₦54.4 trillion, though final figures will be confirmed during the address.Preparations for the event were outlined in an internal memo dated December 17, 2025, signed by Adm.

Essien Eyo Essien, Secretary of Human Resources and Staff Development, on behalf of the Clerk to the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana.

The memo, circulated to deputy clerks and department heads, confirmed President Tinubu's appearance in his role as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.

To ensure smooth proceedings and security, the memo directed all accredited staff and lawmakers to arrive at their posts by 11:00 a.m., after which access to the National Assembly complex will be restricted.

Non-accredited individuals were advised to avoid the premises.Additionally, parking restrictions were imposed: only senior officials such as the Clerk, Deputy Clerk, Clerk of the Senate, Clerk of the House, and their deputies may park within the main complex.

All other staff must use designated areas at the Annex or the new car park near the National Assembly Service Gate.

A formal notification from the Presidency is expected to be read on the floor of the House of Representatives during Thursday's plenary, officially inviting the President to address the joint session.

The budget presentation initiates the legislative review process, allowing lawmakers to debate, amend, and approve the government's spending priorities for 2026.
