Tinubu Appoints Retired AVM Abubakar Idris Adamu as Military Pensions Board Chairman


President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of retired Air Vice Marshal Abubakar Idris Adamu as the new Chairman of the Military Pensions Board (MPB), with effect from December 1, 2025.


The appointment was announced in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Segun Imohiosen.


According to the statement, the appointment is part of ongoing reforms aimed at enhancing transparency, accountability, and operational efficiency in the administration of military pensions.


A seasoned financial expert and senior officer of the Nigerian Air Force from Borno State, AVM Adamu (Rtd) brings decades of experience in military finance, budgeting, and institutional leadership.


His previous roles include Directing Staff at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji; Deputy Director of Budget at the Defence Intelligence Agency; Principal Staff Officer (Finance) at the Air Warfare Centre; Commander of 081 Pay and Accounting Group; Director of Finance at Nigerian Air Force Headquarters; Managing Director of Nigerian Air Force Investment Limited (NAFIL) and the NAFIL Group of Companies; and Directing Staff at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru.


President Tinubu charged the new MPB Chairman to deploy his vast expertise to safeguard pension funds, entrench integrity, and significantly improve the welfare of Nigeria’s military veterans.


The President expressed confidence that AVM Adamu’s leadership will ensure prudent and transparent management of resources dedicated to retired service personnel.
