Six members of the House of Representatives from Rivers State, all known allies of Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, have formally defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) during Tuesday's plenary session.
The defectors are:
Hon. Solomon Bob (Abua/Odual/Ahoada East Federal Constituency)
Hon. Victor Obuzor (Ahoada West/Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni)
Hon. Dumnamene Dekor (Khana/Gokana)
Hon. Cyril Godwin Hart (Degema/Bonny)
Hon. Blessing Amadi (Port Harcourt II)
Hon. Felix Nwaeke (Eleme/Oyigbo/Tai)
Their defection letters, citing the ongoing crisis within the PDP, were read on the floor of the House.
This move further escalates the political realignment in Rivers State, coming weeks after Governor Siminalayi Fubara and several of his loyalists switched to the APC, alongside earlier defections by pro-Wike state assembly members.
