Seven Cameroonians Arrested in Benue for Alleged Banditry Along Nigeria-Cameroon Border


Security operatives in Benue State have arrested seven Cameroonian nationals suspected of involvement in banditry and cross-border criminal activities in Imande-Agbatse community, Gwer West Local Government Area.


The suspects were intercepted in the early hours of Monday by vigilant youths of the community who spotted them moving suspiciously and promptly handed them over to security forces.The arrested persons were identified as:


  • Titakung Cyril Gadinga   
  • Nuvi Clifford Babila   
  • Foyabo Godwin Nuvi T 
  • Doh Collins Dobgima 
  • Basil Smith 
  • Dama Kenneth Babila 
  • Dingana Emmanuel

 

Community sources accused the men of aiding armed bandits terrorising villages along the porous Nigeria-Cameroon border axis.


The suspects are currently being held and interrogated at the State Police Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Makurdi to ascertain their level of involvement in criminal networks.


A security source told journalists that while Benue remains relatively calm, efforts are ongoing to dismantle any foreign-backed criminal elements operating in the state.
