The Nigerian Senate has confirmed the appointments of Oritsemeyiwa Amanorisewo Eyesan as the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) and Engineer Saidu Aliyu Mohammed as the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).
The confirmations follow President Bola Tinubu's nominations, which were swiftly processed by the Senate to ensure continuity in the regulation of the nation's critical petroleum industry.Ms. Eyesan, an experienced petroleum economist with over three decades at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and its subsidiaries, brings extensive expertise in upstream operations.
Engineer Mohammed, a seasoned chemical engineer, has held key leadership roles in refining, gas management, and policy development within the sector.These appointments come amid recent leadership changes in the regulatory agencies, aimed at strengthening oversight and promoting efficiency in Nigeria's midstream, downstream, and upstream petroleum activities under the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).
The new CEOs are expected to focus on enhancing investor confidence, enforcing regulatory standards, and supporting the growth of domestic refining and gas utilization.
