President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the constitution of governing boards for the National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF), the Bank of Agriculture (BOA), and the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) to strengthen leadership in agriculture financing and basic education delivery.
Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC)
Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura continues as Chairman of the UBEC Board, an appointment made in July.
New zonal members appointed to the board are:
- South East: Uchendu Ikechi Mbaegbulem
- South South: Gift Ngo
- South West: Mrs Ibiwunmi Akinnola
- North East: Dr Meiro Mandara
- North West: Dr Abdu Imam Saulawa
- North Central: Professor Paul Ibukun-Olu Bolorundur
The Chairman and members will serve an initial four-year term.
Bank of Agriculture (BOA)
President Tinubu confirmed the earlier appointments of Muhammad Babangida as Chairman and Ayo Sotinrin as Managing Director/CEO.
The newly appointed Executive Directors are:
- Fatima Garba (Sokoto) – Corporate Services
- Ka’amuna Ibrahim Khadi (Borno) – Risk Management and Strategy
- Hakeem Oluwatosin Salami (Kwara) – Operations
Non-Executive Directors representing the six geo-political zones are:
- North East: Aminu Malami Mohammed
- South East: Charles Amuchienwa
- South West: Oladejo Odunuga
- North West: Rabiu Idris Funtua
- North Central: Kochi Donald Iorgyer
- National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF)
The President has also inaugurated the board of the NADF, with Mallam Bello Maccido, a veteran banker and pioneer Chairman of FBNQuest Merchant Bank, as Chairman (North West).
Other board members include:
- Dr Nelson Henry Essien (Akwa Ibom/South South)
- Amina Ahmed Habib (Jigawa/North West)
- Engr. Akinyinka Olufela Akinnola (Ondo/South West)
- Hassan Tanimu Musa Usman (Borno/North East)
- Lufer Samson Orkar (Benue/North Central)
- Felix Achibiri (Imo/South East)
The appointments, according to State House sources, are aimed at injecting fresh expertise and regional balance into the institutions to drive agricultural transformation and universal basic education across Nigeria.
