Presidency Debunks Rumours of Gbajabiamila's Replacement as Chief of Staff

The Presidency has firmly dismissed circulating social media rumours claiming that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has replaced his Chief of Staff, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, with Principal Private Secretary Hakeem Muri-Okunola.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, December 25, 2025, by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the claim was described as "a viral falsehood" with no basis in truth.

"There is absolutely no truth to this story. We advise Nigerians to disregard it entirely," the statement read.

It emphasised that both Gbajabiamila and Muri-Okunola remain firmly in their respective positions, with no changes made to the Chief of Staff role.

The Presidency labelled the rumour a deliberate fabrication by "mischievous purveyors of fake news" aimed at sowing disharmony within the government.

The statement also urged media organisations and the public to verify information thoroughly before publishing or sharing it on social media platforms.

This clarification comes amid heightened scrutiny of presidential appointments and staff movements in the Tinubu administration.
