His Imperial Majesty Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, the Ooni of Ife and Permanent Chairman of the Southern Nigeria Traditional Rulers Council, has been named Chancellor of Kashim Ibrahim University in Maiduguri, Borno State (previously known as Borno State University).
The formal appointment letter was delivered to the monarch on Tuesday at his Ile Oodua Palace in Ile-Ife, Osun State. Leading the delegation was Malam Bukar Tijani, Secretary to the Borno State Government, representing Governor Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum.
The group included Prof. Babagana Guti, Vice-Chancellor of the university, and other senior officials.During the ceremony, Tijani extended Governor Zulum's greetings, calling the event "historic and symbolic."
He emphasized the deep ancestral connections between the ancient Ile-Ife Kingdom and the Kanem-Borno Empire, noting that the appointment aims to strengthen these longstanding ties and honor shared heritage.The Ooni expressed gratitude for the honor, pledging his commitment to the university's development and highlighting his passion for education.
