NYCN to Honour Akpabio, Abbas, Tunji-Ojo, Others as 2025 Outstanding Personalities


The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has announced its 2025 list of honorees, selecting eight prominent Nigerians as the year's "Outstanding Personalities" for their exceptional leadership and impactful contributions.


The awardees include Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma.


Others on the list are Kogi State Governor Ahmed Ododo, Niger State Governor Mohammed Umar Bago, Senator Basheer Lado (Special Adviser to the President on Senate Matters), and Hon. Judith Ogbara (Chairperson, House Committee on Girls Education and Women Empowerment).


The prestigious awards ceremony, themed "2025 Hall of Fame: Icons of Excellence," is scheduled for Tuesday, December 23, 2025.


In a statement, the NYCN described the selection as rigorous and independent, conducted annually to recognise leaders who have delivered measurable impacts through visionary governance, legislative excellence, and people-centred reforms.


Specific recognitions include:


Senate President Godswill Akpabio: Icon of Parliamentary Excellence and Uncommon Leadership for stabilising the National Assembly. 

Speaker Tajudeen Abbas: Icon of Legislative Excellence and Leadership for his transformative agenda. 

Governor Mohammed Bago: Best Governor in Agriculture and Empowerment for pioneering the 'Green Economy' initiatives.

Governor Ahmed Ododo: Best Governor in Security and Youth Emancipation for proactive measures and youth-focused policies.

Governor Hope Uzodimma: Best Governor in National Development for contributions to national integration.

Senator Basheer Lado: Icon of Legislative Prudence and Top-notch Service Delivery for mastering executive-legislative synergy.

Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo: Outstanding Minister of the Year for revolutionary reforms in internal security and passport processing.


Hon. Judith Ogbara: Outstanding Female Emancipator of the Year for advocacy in girls' education and women's development.

 

A NYCN spokesperson emphasised that the honours are conferred sparingly to set benchmarks for integrity and performance, celebrating tangible results that improve lives, especially for Nigerian youth.


The awards aim to highlight contributions aligning with national developmental priorities and sustainable solutions to challenges.
