The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) FCT Command has deployed 4,000 personnel across the Federal Capital Territory to guarantee safety and protect lives, property, and critical national assets during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
Commandant Olusola Odumosu announced the deployment on December 17, 2025, emphasising proactive measures to address potential crime spikes during the festive period.
Personnel were drawn from specialised units, including the Special Intervention Squad, Counter Terrorism Unit, Armed Squad, Agro Rangers, Intelligence Department, and others, to provide comprehensive coverage across the FCT and its environs.
Odumosu warned criminals and vandals to steer clear of infrastructure, noting that covert operatives and patrol teams are actively monitoring black spots, including uncompleted buildings harbouring potential threats.
He urged officers to maintain professionalism, adhere to rules of engagement, and collaborate closely with sister agencies like the Nigeria Police, while cautioning against misuse of firearms or harassment of citizens.
Residents were encouraged to remain vigilant, celebrate moderately, and promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies.
The commandant extended festive greetings to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and Christian communities, assuring a hitch-free yuletide through sustained 24-hour surveillance and rapid response capabilities.
