The Katsina State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested eight suspects linked to a violent attack that resulted in the burning of its outpost at Koraman Nayalli in Sabuwar Unguwa Quarters, Katsina metropolis.
The incident stemmed from protests following the death of a suspected drug peddler, Uzairu, alias ‘Dan’kuda’, during a security raid.
NSCDC Public Relations Officer, SC Buhari Hamisu, confirmed the arrests to the News Agency of Nigeria on Monday.According to Hamisu, a large group of miscreants stormed the outpost on Sunday, setting the building ablaze and destroying three motorcycles along with other property.
The armed attackers also approached nearby NSCDC and police outposts at Filin Kanada but were repelled.
Joint Special Response Squads from the NSCDC and police quickly intervened, restoring order and bringing the situation under control.
State Commandant Abbas Moriki has launched a full investigation, personally assessing the damage on-site and forming a seven-man committee to probe the circumstances.
Moriki issued a stern warning to criminals and economic saboteurs, urging them to desist or face severe legal consequences.
Authorities have assured residents that calm has returned to the area, with enhanced security measures in place to prevent further incidents.
