Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu's administration, stating he is "100% behind" the government.
Speaking on Friday during the delivery of the 15th convocation lecture at Achievers University in Owo, Ondo State, the ex-minister explained his deliberate shift to a low-profile approach after decades in the spotlight of national politics.
"I am a very loyal member of the APC," Mohammed declared. "I am 100% behind this administration. But I have played my role on the front line. Whatever I need to do now, I will pass it through the back channels."
He highlighted his record as the longest-serving minister in Nigeria's history, having held the information portfolio for eight years under the previous administration.Mohammed, who titled his lecture "Just Don’t Graduate, Innovate," urged the graduating students to embrace resilience, risk-taking, and reinvention in a rapidly changing world.
He shared personal anecdotes from his career, including his time as opposition spokesperson, to emphasize the value of adaptability.
Currently, the former minister said his priorities lie in mentoring young Nigerians and sharing knowledge with students at tertiary institutions across the country.
He stressed that while he has stepped back from public-facing roles, his commitment to the party and the nation remains strong.
