Kaduna State Police Command has arrested two suspected kidnappers who allegedly developed romantic affections for two married women they abducted and sexually assaulted during captivity.
The victims, in a bid to ensure their survival, pretended to reciprocate the suspects' feelings, claiming to enjoy the encounters and even exchanging phone numbers with them.
After their release presumably following ransom payment the women maintained communication with the suspects.
On Tuesday, December 30, 2025, they arranged a meeting disguised as a romantic rendezvous.
Acting on intelligence provided by the victims, police operatives lay in wait and apprehended the two men at the designated location.
The arrests highlight a clever sting operation by the victims and law enforcement, turning the tables on the perpetrators amid ongoing efforts to curb kidnapping in the region.
The suspects are currently in custody, with investigations ongoing.
Police have urged citizens to report suspicious activities promptly to aid in combating crime.
