Jazzman Olofin has renewed his criticism of fellow artiste Adekunle Gold for performing a sampled version of his 2004 hit ‘Raise Da Roof’ without obtaining prior permission.
This follows an initial complaint in November, in which
Olofin distinguished between a spontaneous onstage tribute and what he
described as a fully rehearsed performance of his “22-year-old monster hit,”
undertaken without any prior communication.
In a recent Instagram post, Olofin noted that over a week
has passed since the incident, with no word from Adekunle Gold.
He shared a throwback photo of the two from 2016,
questioning why the Afro-pop star, who now has his own catalogue of hits, chose
to “flex” with his song.
Jazzman also issued a caution about karma, suggesting that
younger artistes might one day perform Adekunle Gold’s own work without
acknowledgement.
“It’s been over a week since you gave me the rude shock of
you energetically practicing and performing my song at your concert with
disregard. Even your own more shocked you are yet to do the needful,” he wrote.
“I have tried to do more from the matter but those good people won’t stop buzzing my phone for update on the matter. Well, I nor get update for una oo. Adekunle is apparently a very big boy But you got so many hit songs now, why you gotta flex with mine and still don’t wanna show respect?
“Don’t be ill-advised, coz shows change day in day will
come, maybe in your 50s, or 60s or 70s, one small boy will come and do what
your songs which you did with Jazzman’s hand. What goes around will surely
comes around. The law of nature: What will look back in deep thoughts.
“But can bisquit so too. Law of karma is here chilling. So
I’ll just be here chilling sipping on my lime & honey tea with cabin biscuits.
