Former Lagos State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Abdulazeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as bold economic reforms that have improved financial access at the local government level.
Adediran made the remarks after meeting with President Tinubu at his Lagos residence during the Christmas holiday.
Speaking on the engagement, Jandor said the discussion with the president was both enlightening and constructive, particularly on the need for synergy between the Federal Government and subnational authorities.
“I had the honour of meeting with Mr President during his Christmas break in Lagos, where we engaged in a meaningful conversation. He emphasised the importance of shared vision and cooperation between the Centre and the states for effective governance,” he said.
Now a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Adediran disclosed that he briefed the president on the performance of local government administrations in Lagos State, especially their achievements within their first 100 days in office.
He explained that several councils have embarked on visible development projects using funds accessed from the federation account.
“Having attended some of the 100-day celebrations of our local governments, I reported to Mr President the strides being made with the resources available to them,” he said.
“Today, local governments in Lagos are commissioning roads, primary healthcare centres, customary courts and other critical infrastructure within just 100 days of assumption of office,” he added
Adediran commended President Tinubu for introducing economic measures anchored on accountability and fiscal discipline, noting that these policies have empowered grassroots administrations to deliver tangible results.
“I thanked him for his courageous economic decisions, which have made it easier for governments at the grassroots to access funds and deliver development,” he added.
Jandor, who finished third in the 2023 Lagos governorship election, had earlier announced his intention to contest the seat again in 2027.
He also expressed confidence that President Tinubu would secure a decisive victory in the 2027 presidential election, attributing it to the growing reach and consolidation of the president’s political influence across the country.
