Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, on Sunday, December 14, 2025, officially registered as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), marking a key step in his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The low-key registration ceremony took place at the Government House in Jalingo, where Kefas received his membership card from the APC chairman of his Hospital Ward in Wukari Local Government Area.
He was accompanied by key political figures, including the Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. John Kizito Bonzena, former Speaker Rt. Hon. Abel Peter Diah, and Hon. Danladi Baido.Addressing attendees after the presentation, Governor Kefas described the move as being in the best interest of governance, party unity, and development in Taraba State.
He emphasized that registering now enables him to fully engage in APC activities while a larger public defection ceremony previously postponed from November due to national security issues will be rescheduled and announced soon.
This development follows recent defections by the state assembly speaker, several lawmakers, and executive council members to the APC, signaling a major political realignment in the state.
