Gov Adeleke, Aiyedatiwa Sign 2026 Budgets into Law as Ogun Assembly Passes N1.669trn Proposal

Governors Ademola Adeleke of Osun State and Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State have assented to their respective 2026 appropriation bills, while the Ogun State House of Assembly passed a N1.669 trillion budget proposal presented by Governor Dapo Abiodun.

In Osun, Governor Adeleke signed the N705 billion 2026 Appropriation Bill into law on Monday at the Governor's Office in Abere, Osogbo.

Flanked by his deputy, Kola Adewusi; Speaker Adewale Egbedun; Chief of Staff Kazeem Akinleye; and other cabinet members, Adeleke described the signing as a launch into the final year of his first term with "expanded ambitions" to complete ongoing projects and initiate new ones.

In a statement by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor pledged full implementation to consolidate governance and service delivery in line with his administration's five-point agenda, adding that his government had already delivered results admired by the public.

Similarly, in Ondo State, Governor Aiyedatiwa assented to the N524.411 billion 2026 Appropriation Bill, dubbed the "Budget of Economic Consolidation," at the Executive Council Chamber in Akure.

The budget comprises N220.831 billion in recurrent expenditure and N303.580 billion in capital expenditure, with major allocations directed toward infrastructure, health, and education.

Other priority sectors include agriculture, trade and industry, community development, environment, regional development, justice administration, public finance, energy, and general administration.

Aiyedatiwa described the fiscal plan as a strategic response to national economic realities and a "covenant" with citizens for responsible governance and shared prosperity.

He urged ministries, departments, and agencies to adhere strictly to budget provisions for timely and prudent execution, while commending the State House of Assembly for its expeditious handling of the bill.

Speaker Olamide Oladiji praised the governor for transforming the state and enhancing Akure's appearance as a befitting capital city.

In Ogun State, the House of Assembly passed the 2026 Appropriation Bill of N1,668,997,993,125.44 during plenary in Abeokuta, presided over by Speaker Oludaisi Elemide.

The passage followed the adoption of the report by the Committee on Finance and Appropriation, chaired by Musefiu Lamidi. Minor adjustments were made, increasing projected Internally Generated Revenue by N2.193 billion while reducing capital receipts by the same amount, leaving the total budget size unchanged.

The bill was read clause-by-clause, adopted at third reading through voice votes, and a clean copy forwarded to Governor Abiodun for assent.

The developments reflect ongoing fiscal planning across states as governments prepare for the 2026 financial year amid national economic challenges.
