The Federal Government has granted final approval for the establishment of the Kogi-Hunan Free Trade Zone, marking a major milestone in the development of the long-awaited Ajaokuta Economic City in Kogi State.
The approval follows the successful conclusion of negotiations under the Kogi-Hunan Sister Province Relationship between the Kogi State Government, led by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, and the Zhuzhou Municipal Government of Hunan Province, China.
With the federal nod now secured, the Kogi State Government is set to host a high-level stakeholders’ briefing in Abuja on Tuesday to unveil the project’s framework, highlight multi-billion-naira investment opportunities, and outline immediate next steps.
The event, organised by the Kogi State Investment Promotion and Public Private Partnership Agency (KSIPPA), will bring together federal agencies, local and international investors, development partners, and diplomatic representatives.
In an official invitation signed by the Chief Economic Adviser to the Governor and CEO of KSIPPA, Aliyu Inda Salami, the briefing is described as a pivotal moment to formally launch the Kogi-Hunan Free Trade Zone and accelerate the takeoff of the Ajaokuta Economic City project.
